Ms. Doerr’s mask is hiding a big smile underneath. She was so excited to see her first graders at Wednesday’s material distribution day! First, second and fifth graders came to see their teachers and pick up hands-on learning materials for remote learning.

As a reminder, there is no school tomorrow, Friday, October 2, as this is a professional development day for our staff. 

Free Dance Classes: AFIA students have an opportunity to participate in free virtual dance classes through Kansas City Friends of Alvin Ailey. KCFAA Studio Dance Program provides dance training in Ballet, Jazz, Modern Dance techniques to help students develop skills associated with academic success in a creative environment. KCFAA Studio program students are encouraged to recognize the importance of process and quality of work while setting high standards for themselves. Virtual classes begin this week. Third-Sixth Grade Testing: Third-sixth grade students demonstrated incredible effort and academic ownership on their beginning of the year Evaluate assessment. Click here to read a letter Ms. Colbert sent regarding Evaluate assessments. Students in grades 2-6 will begin taking the NWEA test next week. The NWEA test measures growth over time and it’s taken at the beginning, middle and end of each school year.
