Announcements:

  • Picture Day is Monday!  This Monday, September 13, is AFIA class and individual picture day.  Students do not need to wear uniforms on this day.  We will start class pictures early in the morning, so please be sure that your scholar arrives on time. If you would like class pictures, please send $10 back in the envelope that was sent home.  You will get to preview the individual pictures before you purchase them.
  • If you drive your scholar to/from school, please be extra mindful of your speed in the AFIA parking lot and also on nearby streets.  Thank you for helping keep our AFIA community safe, as this is always our top priority.
  • We hope to see your family on Friday, September 20, for our second annual Picnic on the Playground from 6-7:30PM.  Join us for hamburgers/hot dogs and a dance party.  We ask that you RSVP if you are planning to attend we can be sure to have enough food. Please bring lawn chairs and/or blankets and an item to share (see below). Please send donated items by Wednesday so we can be sure to have enough side items.
    • PK/K: Drinks
    • 1st grade: Chips and/or Dip
    • 2nd grade, 3rd grade, 4th grade: Side dish
    • 5th and 6th grade: Dessert
  • The Marlborough Community Coalition is hosting a Fall Clean-Up on September 21 from 9-11AM.  Volunteers should meet at the new park at 81st & Troost, just down the street from AFIA.  Lunch will be served afterward for all volunteers.
  • Alvin Ailey dance classes in Ballet, Modern, and Jazz begin Monday, September 23.  Scholarships are available.  For scholarship, tuition, and registration information, call (816) 471-6003 or visit kcfaa.org/studio.
