Announcements:

  • Scholars are putting the finishing touches on presentations for next Tuesday’s Celebration of Learning. Dinner will be served at 6:00PM, followed by performances by all grade levels. Classes are preparing with hopes that all members of the classroom community will be there.  Dinner will be served at 6:00PM, followed by performances by all grade levels. If you are interested in helping to serve food or with set-up/clean-up, please indicate your interest here.  The Celebration of Learning schedule is as follows:
    • 6:00-6:30PM Dinner served in the multi-purpose room/Classrooms open
    • 6:30PM  Students dropped off in classrooms/Families seated in Gymnasium
    • 6:40PM  Opening Act (Please plan to stay for the duration of the program.  Students will stay with their classroom teachers before and after their performance.  Families must be signed out from their classroom after the final performance.) 
  • A Parent Advisory Committee (PAC) Meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, December 3 at 6PM.  All AFIA parents are invited to attend. PAC Meetings are a great way to connect and collaborate with other parents. During this meeting we’ll review our Parent Involvement Plan, as well as the Family School Compact. There will also be a chance for parents to share their ideas about what parent involvement opportunities they would like to see at AFIA.  Childcare is provided.
  • As a reminder, Thanksgiving Break begins on Wednesday,  November 27.  School will resume Monday, December 2.
  • Thank you to all who donated food items for the Turkey Baskets.  We will be packaging meals on Tuesday, November 25.  In you are interesting in volunteering next Tuesday, November 25, to help prepare the baskets, please call (816) 444-1720.  We do still need a few of the following items:
    • Pie Crust
    • Cornbread
    • Rolls
    • Vegetable Oil
    • Canned Vegetables
    • Cream of Mushroom Soup or Onion Soup
    • Cranberry Sauce
    • Canned Yams
    • Potatoes (Instant Mashed, AuGratin, Scalloped) and Gravy
