Our fifth and sixth graders recently visited the Nelson Atkins to see the 30 Americans exhibit. We are grateful to the Nelson for this powerful experience.

Announcements

  • As a reminder, there is no school this Friday, August 30, and Monday, September 2.  Students may dress down tomorrow (Thursday) if they’ve had perfect attendance.
  • We are excited to announce a new partnership with Start at Zero.  Start at Zero partners with parents and caregivers to promote healthy early childhood development for children ages 0-5.  We are beginning an AFIA Playgroup for parents and caregivers with children ages 0-5.   The first playgroup is Tuesday, September 3, 2019, from 10:00 – 11:30AM.  Please review this flyer for more information about AFIA’s partnership with Start at Zero.
  • School pictures (individual and class photos) will be September 16.  More information will be sent home closer to picture day.
  • If you are not receiving the Wednesday Weekly or other text blasts from the school, you can update your settings in Schoolmint:
    1. To update “Parent/Guardian” information, go to the blue action banner, on the left side,  and select “Account Settings.”                    
    2. Scroll down to the section titled “Contact Preferences.”
    3. To edit or update your parent/guardian information, simply click on the green “Edit Information” button on the far right. You will then be taken to your information page. Here you can change the name, address, phone, email, and more.
    4. After you make your desired changes, click the green “Save” button in the bottom right corner.
