Announcements:

  • Please help us welcome Coach LaMont White, AFIA’s new PE teacher.  Coach White graduated from Missouri Western State University and was on a football scholarship during his time as a Griffon.   Following graduation, he spent seven years working for the State of Missouri Division of Youth Services. He then transitioned to teaching and is now entering his eighth year of teaching in Kansas City charter schools. Not only does he have a passion for helping students pursue their dreams in the classroom, but also in athletics.  Coach White is a great addition to the AFIA team!
  • We’re so proud of our 3rd-6th Graders who’ve demonstrated incredible academic ownership during MAP testing this week.  We will continue MAP testing next week. Thank you for ensuring that your scholars start each day well rested and on-time.
  • Our last Parent Advisory Committee Meeting of this school year will be Thursday, May 16, from 5:30-6:30PM. Childcare is provided, but we ask that you RSVP so that we can plan accordingly.
  • As we wrap up the school year, please return all library books by Friday, May 17.
