We practice the skill of working with a team as we practice using kind words that encourage each other’s ideas for building structures with cards and Legos. The scholars have viewed short videos on YouTube to learn new techniques for building card and Lego structures. The 2nd grade class has been doing an amazing job engaging in teamwork! In these pictures, the scholars talk about building a good base in order for the structure to stand better with multiple apexes.
Base, structure, and 
apex are part of the vocabulary all classes are using to describe ideas and their work.
It takes great teamwork to build with cards while also working to not get too frustrated when the cards fall. We work to see those moments as learning opportunities instead of failures. These 2nd grade scholars continued to try and try again when their card structure fell. The 2nd grade scholars showed excellent teamwork by communicating their ideas to their peers with kind words.
