Grandparents/Special Friends Breakfast
We are excited to invite grandparents/special friends to a breakfast in their honor on Friday November 17th. Please RSVP here so we can order enough food! We will start the breakfast at 8:00 and folks are welcome to attend the classroom morning meeting at 9:00 then head out around 9:30.
Updates from AFIA’s Family Connect
We loved seeing so many caregivers come out to assist with the Fall Parties at school! Also, thanks to everyone who helped donate supplies to help with the parties. We received so many donations!

Clubs Update and Celebration
November 16th is the last day of clubs. We hope you can join us for the Club Showcase Celebration!
It’s been an incredible semester of clubs this fall with quite a few new ones including Soccer, Coding, Graphic Design, Jewelry Making, Crochet, and Photography. Scholars have done a great job being engaged and ready to learn new skills. November 16th is the last day of clubs and we would like to invite all families to participate in our Club Showcase/Celebration that day. The Club Showcase Celebration will start at 4:30PM on Thursday, November 16th.
November Holiday Food Pantry
Thanks to Harvesters and School Smart KC, we are hosting a holiday food pantry on Thursday, November 16th from 3:30-5:30PM. This holiday food pantry includes holiday birds (turkey and chicken), breakfast items, home and hygiene items and more. All items are first come, first serve. Receiving from our monthly food pantry is free for AFIA families.
If you are unable to make it to our food pantry night and would still like to receive from the pantry, please email Mrs. Daniels at jenessa.daniels@afiakc.org by Wednesday, November 15th. Please note that we are unable to reserve or set turkeys/birds aside.
AFIA will host another holiday theme food pantry on December 14th (more details to come). If you are in need of further assistance with the holiday season approaching for your family, view upcoming holiday resources here.
Big Smiles Dentist
The dentist will return to our school November 27-29th. It is important that your child arrives to school on those dates and on time, as their visit will not be rescheduled.

School Library and LET’S READ
All students received a library contract on Friday, November 10th. Please look for the piece of purple paper in your student’s backpack. We ask that you review this with your child(ren) and return it with signatures to indicate that you’ve discussed expectations for taking good care of library books. We want all students to be able to check out books to read at home. Thank you for supporting your child’s academic growth by encouraging reading at home.
Through our partnership with Lead to Read and the Mahomies Foundation, we will be kicking off Read for 15 soon! Patrick Mahomes encourages all students to read at least 15 minutes a day outside of school.

Desayuno de abuelos/amigos especiales
Estamos muy contentos de invitar a los abuelos/ amigos especiales a un desayuno en su honor el viernes 17 de noviembre. Por favor RSVP aquí para que podamos pedir suficiente comida! Comenzaremos el desayuno a las 8:00 y la gente es bienvenida a asistir a la reunión de la mañana del aula a las 9:00 y luego salir alrededor de las 9:30.

Ha sido un semestre increíble de clubes este otoño con bastantes nuevos incluyendo fútbol, codificación, diseño gráfico, fabricación de joyas, ganchillo, y fotografía. Los eruditos han hecho un gran trabajo estando comprometidos y listos para aprender nuevas habilidades. 16 de noviembre es el último día de clubes y nos gustaría invitar a todas las familias a participar en nuestro Club Showcase/ Celebración de ese día. La celebración del Club Showcase comenzará a las 4:30 pm el jueves 16 de noviembre.
Despensa de comida de vacaciones de noviembre
Gracias a Harvesters y School Smart KC, el jueves 16 de noviembre de 3:30-5:30PM tendremos una despensa de comida de vacaciones. Esta despensa de alimentos navideños incluye aves navideñas (pavo y pollo), artículos de desayuno, artículos de hogar e higiene y más. Todos los artículos son por orden de llegada, primer servicio. Recibir de nuestra despensa mensual es gratis para las familias de AFIA.
Si no puede asistir a nuestra noche de despensa de alimentos y aún así le gustaría recibir de la despensa, envíe un correo electrónico a la Sra. Daniels a jenessa.daniels@afiakc.org antes del miércoles 15 de noviembre. Tenga en cuenta que no podemos reservar o reservar pavos/ aves.

Biblioteca Escolar y VAMOS A LEER
Todos los estudiantes recibieron un contrato de biblioteca el viernes 10 de noviembre. Por favor, busque el pedazo de papel púrpura en la mochila de su estudiante. Le pedimos que revise esto con su hijo (s) y lo devuelva con firmas para indicar que ha discutido las expectativas para cuidar bien los libros de la biblioteca. Queremos que todos los estudiantes puedan leer libros en casa. Gracias por apoyar el crecimiento académico de su hijo al alentar la lectura en casa.
