Tardies/Leaving Early
It is extremely important for all students to have strong and consistent school attendance. Students should arrive by 7:50AM if they eat breakfast at school. If your child does not each breakfast at school, we encourage them to arrive by 8AM. Students arriving after 8:10AM are considered tardy and miss out on important learning as we begin instruction promptly at 8:10AM. Please note that if your child arrives at/after 8:10AM, you must walk them into the building to sign them in.
We also understand that there are occasions when a student needs to leave early for an appointment and appreciate you working to minimize their school absence. It is important that students participate in the full day and does not leave early unless it is absolutely necessary. If your child is a car riders and has more than five instances of arriving tardy and/or leaving early, Mrs. Daniels’ will be reaching out to schedule an attendance problem-solving meeting during fall conferences.
Classroom Visits
AFIA is committed to providing engaged, meaningful instruction and minimizing disruption to teaching and learning. We value our partnerships with families and community organizations and welcome visits from parents/guardians and community members. Requests for classroom visits or school tours must be made through the Main Office and approved by the principal at least 24 hours prior to the proposed visitation time.
Upon entering the building, all visitors must report to the Main Office, sign in, wear the provided visitor pass while in the building, and sign out upon departure. Visitors may not possess weapons, including concealed weapons, on school property, on school transportation, or at any school function or activity sponsored or sanctioned by the school unless the visitor is an authorized law enforcement official or is otherwise authorized by school policy. In accordance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), visitors may not record video/audio or take pictures during instructional time without prior authorization from an administrator. Classroom performances and celebrations are exempt from this policy.

Beginning of the Year Assessments
There are many ways we measure students’ academic progress to ensure they’re on track to mastering grade level standards by the end of the school year.
