Karren Colbert | Principal

Prior to working at AFIA, Karren worked in a variety of capacities serving as a classroom teacher, reading teacher, and instructional coach. Most recently, she worked as a consultant, specializing in working with turnaround schools to improve student achievement through teacher development and data-driven instruction. Additionally, she is an adjunct instructor for the University of Missouri-Kansas City teaching a graduate-level course designed to help first-year teachers develop a positive classroom climate. In 2019, Karren completed the two-year Kansas City PLUS program designed for transformational school leaders. She was chosen for the inaugural cohort of this competitive program.
