Thank you to the KC Friends of Alvin Ailey for visiting AFIA today to perform “Setting the Stage.” This performance provides insights into the history and legacies of African-American pioneers in minstrels, jazz dance, ballet, Afro-Caribbean – including Katherine Dunham and Alvin Ailey. Afterward some of our AFIA scholars had an opportunity to perform with Tyrone Aiken, Alvin Ailey choreographer.
